Cycle 4 Chemo done :) Two more cycles to go! woohoo!
Last Tuesday during Chemo, I sat next to a woman a little older than me. My husband was there as well. We chatted a bit but never introduced ourselves or anything. One of the things we talked about was me wanting Bryan to go out while I was in Chemo, to find a spider plant or asparagus fern. The greenhouses we checked in our area didn't have them. So he left a while and came back and never found one of those plants in the immediate area. I said, well I guess I will wait until next year to get one.
Today, when I walked in and sat down one of the nurses came up to me and said 'Gail, do you remember the woman you were sitting next to last week? She found a spider plant for you and wanted to see if you were going to be here again." Because of HIPPA, the nurse couldn't disclose any information about me, but told her that I would be back next week.
Today, Carol (we formally introduced ourselves) brought me a spider plant that she got from one of her friend's "babies". She planted it in a pot and everything. I was so touched. It brought tears to my eyes. I think her cycles of chemo are almost over now and she will be on a break. I may not see her again but if she is there next Tuesday, I will give her my phone number and hopefully make a new friend.
The kindness and support that has been extended to me throughout this ordeal from everybody has been phenomenal! My family, doctors, nurses and even patients.
I have cancer, yet I feel so blessed.
