Echocardiogram and PET/CT scan all done yesterday. Appointment with lung surgeon on the 18th to go over the results and hopefully set a date for the surgery.
I met a man waiting in the PET/CT scan truck with me. He was just diagnosed with lung cancer and he seemed kind of freaked out about it all - who wouldn't? I felt bad for him. He looked to be in his 50's. He asked me what I was there for and I told him I had lung cancer and he said "so do I."
Another man I met while I was waiting was 71 years old. A veteran. He had throat cancer years back and had surgery. He talked kind of raspy - he said because of the surgery's that he has had. Then recently they found a spot on his lung. That is why he was getting a scan yesterday. He said he quit smoking 15 years ago. He was as cheerful as a person could be under the circumstances.
As we go about our daily lives, we really have no idea the people who have bad things happening to them and deal with them on a daily basis. But I can tell you this, attitude has everything to do with it. We are all going to die someday. Whether from cancer, natural causes, auto accident, gun shot, heart attack, who knows for whatever reason. It's important to be right with the Lord and just to enjoy each day that He has given us and to just live that day by day. Accept it. Life becomes much more easier to live and enjoy when you accept that you will die someday. It's not easy - and I still sometimes think about it - but in order to fully enjoy the days that you have left, it is necessary. You need to keep busy, not dwell on it - just enjoy the beauty of God's work and his love in your life. I have found that if you take the focus off of yourself, and put it on helping others, well, that helps a lot!
Lots to do at work today! Bulletin, Parish Notes need to go out for Sunday's service. I meant to work a few hours from home yesterday in-between test appointments but that didn't happen. I took a nap! ha! Love those afternoon naps!
Friday blessings.......
The Lord says "I will make you wise and show you where to go.
I will guide you and watch over you." Psalm 32:8
