Well, I didn't get all of my dusting finished yesterday, imagine that! Ha! You know I had to fit my nap in there at some point! I did get a lot of dusting done however. Today I am getting a lot more dusting and glass cleaning done and I also have been cleaning the carpet stains!
I've had a lot of thoughts on my mind today after finally setting a date for the surgery. A lot of "what if"s" that I just have to quit absorbing myself with. From everything I have heard it is going to be painful - especially the drain tube(s). ughhhh. The one I had with my spleen removal was painful. It was awful! I hope this one isn't any worse. One guy described it as having a garden hose pulled out of you! ughhhh! The doctor suggested epidural for pain and then I think after a few days they put you on regular pain meds - maybe after the drain tube is pulled. And the doctor did say the last appointment - that the drain tube can be painful. I've never had epidural for pain before except when I had Heather, so I need to do a little research on that. The doctor said that the anesthesiologist will go over that with me before surgery.
Chest tube- this is a tube that is used to drain the liquids that are produced in your lung normally, that may/will increase after we have removed or manipulated part of your lung. It is also used to remove air that may be collecting in your chest after surgery. "Air leaks” as we call them can happen for various reasons. Most of the time both of these need to stop before we can safely remove the tube.
Epidural- Is a small catheter that is put in the space around your spine. It is used for pain control. The anesthesiologist will discuss pain control with you on the day/morning of your surgery. The epidural catheter is placed just prior to your surgery due to the special positioning needed to put it in. It is then used after surgery to help control your pain. The catheter is small enough that you can still lie on your back after surgery. The catheter delivers pain medication in response to a button you control when you need pain relief.
I so dread this! I'm such a whiny pain baby and they are going to make me move and breathe! for goodness sake! Ha!
I'm trying to get a nice, big, new recliner out of the deal to recover on and then give to Bryan when I can finally sleep in the bed but I don't think he's having it haha! I still have time.
