Bald Eagle banded on June 3, 1985 ( 30.5 yrs old) was admitted in extremely critically condition with lead poisoning. We are desperately seeking a veterinarian in our general area ( Central WI) with a endoscope was he has 2 large pieces of lead in his proventriculus. If you can help please call the REGI clinic as soon as possible. 715-623-4015. This is lead ammunition that was likely left in a gut pile or carcass where it was picked up by the eagle.

UPDATE: OK, 11:00 p.m. and #640 has had his CA EDTA injections, antibiotics, fluids and emaciation diet, which is actually digesting. He is tucked in and cozy, and we are all off to sleep for a few hours. Jake and I will be check on him through the night.
We will have photos tomorrow of the procedure and the great veterinarians Dr Gina and Dr Allen and technicians at Packerland Veterinary Center in Green Bay. They spent several hours this afternoon and night with #640 to give him a chance at recovery.
The big news!! He is digesting and his blood work is looking better than we thought it would at this point. Lead levels still extremely high but we are working on it.

PREVIOUS UPDATE: Headed home. #640 is still with us after a very long surgery. Unfortunately, they were unable to retrieve the one lead piece we went in after. Many others were retrieved.
First, we have to get him stable and keep treating the lead poisoning in his blood. Photos will follow...once we are home, he is comfortable and we all get a little sleep. Thank you everyone for your support for the REGI team and #640.
