Why Americans Struggle to be Happy | Greater Good

I think Americans struggle to be happy because they are always comparing themselves to others and greed and materialism take control. If people didn't want so much they wouldn't have to work so hard and could spend time doing the things they really enjoyed. They don't need big TV's, new cars, big and fancy houses, spoiled kids, the latest fashion, sparkly diamonds. They just want. They want, want, want.....then they struggle to pay for the things they Need.......When does it end? You have to one day say enough....Downsize......Learn to live on less......don't compare yourself to others......and enjoy what life has to offer.....before it passes you by. Life has so much to offer that isn't materialistic :)

Why Americans Struggle to be Happy | Greater Good: "But some recent studies have found a paradox: The pursuit of happiness tends to make individual Americans unhappy. Did the Founding Fathers set us up for failure?"
